TED - FREE
I’m sure most of you
have heard of TED, if not then please check it out! Personally, it has been a doorway
to great influence. The speakers they have available are incredible and the
database of videos is ever growing. Now it is here, on iPad. The ability to
have access to great knowledge and spectacular ideas is truly great and it is
definitely something every student should have access to.

Dictionary - FREE
Why buy a hard copy
dictionary when you have access to nearly 2,000,000 words at your fingertips? My
favourite feature is the Word of the Day, which nearly always improves my
current vocabulary.

Available on the App Store
iHomework - £1.49
iHomework is full of
so many features that we simply cannot list them all here and that is why it is
a paid app. Keep up-to-date with your schoolwork, grades, to-dos, reading
lists, coursework, teacher’s information and pretty much everything else you
would need in the academic year.

Available on the App Store
Penultimate - £1.49
This really is one of
the coolest apps around, of any kind. Penultimate ultimately (sorry) is a
handwriting app on the iPad. Instead of paying for all the notebooks in the
world, shaking all the ink out your of your fountain pen and organising
gazillions of paper into countless folders just use Penultimate. It really does
make note-taking fun.

Available on the App Store
iAnnotate - £6.99
This is a pricey app
for any student but is it worth it? I believe so. I love PDFs and the main
reason why is because of this app. I used to read PDFs on my laptop or iMac and
it was boring. This app allowed me to explore them on iPad and treat them like
a real book. iAnnotate allows to annotate them with a vast number of ‘pens’,
‘highlights’ and ‘stamps’ and more.

Available on the App Store
Pages - £6.99
Pages is simply a word
processor for iPad. What makes it different is the simplicity, the creativity
and the beauty of some of the documents you can create. It does cost £6.99 but it is cheaper than their Microsoft counterpart. It is
easily exported into PDF, which you can annotate using iAnnote, and also into
Word files.
